Dance and Technology

In modern times, dance and movement capability are increasingly shaped by technology, including new materials, devices, and electronic augmentation through sensors and multi-media experience. 

As a creative technologist interested in new interfaces, my interest in dance was primarily in types of apparatus-enhanced "off the ground" movement known as aerial dance. This format requires high strength and technical awareness for safety, similar to extreme sports such as rock climbing with rigging elements such as ropes, harnessing, and suspended objects in space.

I am no longer active in performing.
