During my time as a Math major at UC Berkeley (circa 2002), I was interested in the mathematics of signal processing, including the use of FFT and the Wavelet Transform as a means of decomposing (analyzing) and resynthesizing audio signals.
I also created a graphical front-end for data flow programming in Python, enabling fast no-code prototyping of signal processing algorithms vectorized by the NumPy library.
Unfortunately, the project code has been lost to the ether. This was before GitHub.
